For as many years as the North East Firemen's Cherry Festival has been in existence, there has been one tradition that has never changed. For 65 years, every Thursday night of the festival, a queen is crowned. The process begins in the North East High School, where the graduating senior class selects 10 people they believe would be model representatives of the North East Fire Department Cherry Festival. Following the nominations, candidates are put through an interview process with a panel of judges. This panel narrows the group down to the 5 that are seen on stage Thursday night. Afterwards, one more interview takes place, along with multiple promotional photographs and a dinner for the candidates and their escorts. They are then picked up and taken for a limo ride for additional photographs, before being escorted to the stage on Thursday night for the crowning at 6:30 PM.

Please enjoy a scrolling picture show to the right showcasing the candidates on the Thursday night crowning ceremony.

The 2010 Candidates (as soon as we have them available to us), will be placed in a "scrolling" box to the left of this text. The candidates are currently being selected by the senior class of North East High School. Please check back soon for updates and an all new "bio bits" section.
