The North East Firemen's Cherry Festival Parade, long rumored to be the "largest volunteer firemen's parade"
in Pennsylvania, is slated to occur on Saturday, July 14th, 2012 in beautiful downtown North East. The parade
is a memorable and enjoyable event for all ages, featuring fire apparatus of all shapes, sizes, colors and specialties,
along with musical and performing acts!! The parade is proud to feature many local pipe and bugle bands, along
with several local high school bands, and many various local performing groups. The parade begins, rain or shine,
at 4pm and typically runs around 2 hours.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Chairs are not permitted to be "tied up" or "affixed" to an area, nor is an area able to be "reserved" until after 4pm Thursday. This is per Borough Ordinance.

Is there a firefighter or EMT who has had a large impact on your life??? If so, please submit your story HERE.

The Parade Route begins at Mill Street and Main Street. The parade proceeds EAST on US-20 to SR-89. The parade then goes NORTH on SR-89 to Gibson Street. The judging area is indicated on the map with the ORANGE dot. There is a "No Siren Zone" between "Main and Pearl" and "Main and 89". This is to allow performing acts a fair chance at performance. The parade announcers booth is also in the Orange judging area. Announcers will provide information pertaining to the apparatus/performances coming through the judging area. The judging area is also where the "Active Firefighter of the Year" award will be given to an active member of the North East Fire Department.

The North East Firemen's Parade Committee encourages all parade spectators to obey a few simple rules for safety of all involved.

1. DO NOT cross the street during the parade. It is important for your safety as many of the vehicles in the parade are several tons in weight.

2. NEVER run into the street to collect candy. The vehicles may only be going 5 miles per hour, but they cannot stop on a dime.

3. PLEASE REFRAIN from using squirt guns, water canons, hoses, etc... on the parade participants. The vehicles were detailed for the parade, and the performers are "unarmed" so to speak.

DISCLAIMER: While the North East Fire Department and all participants perform all steps possible to ensure a safe and enjoyable parade experience for all, due to the nature of the event, there are inherent risks associated with parades. Vehicles will be moving on a closed roadway while spectators sit and observe. While the concept of a parade seems to have minimal dangers, there are still risks that must be "weighed" by all in attendance. Your attendance at the parade is acceptance of any and all associated risks. The North East Fire Department, it's associates, and the parade participants are not liable for any injuries sustained as a result of negligence on your behalf. PLEASE USE CAUTION.
