| Every year, in the month of June, every resident in North East receives a visitor. This visitor may be someone they know, or maybe someone they've never met before. This visitor may be a familiar face from work or the supermarket, or maybe a non-familiar face in a blue uniform and a blue hat. This visitor is a member of the North East Fire Department, and they are visiting to offer tickets to the fabulous drawings at the North East Firemen's Cherry Festival. The donation is only a dollar, and every dollar goes a long way. The donations being received are to provide for the best training and equipment to be used by the highly skilled and talented members of the North East Fire Department for the preservation of life, property and general well-being of all those who reside in, visit, or travel through the North East Fire Department's district. The person in uniform is there to provide a face to the donation. The person in uniform is happy to answer questions and supply information to the residents of the town. The member who visits your house is excited to see the faces of the community we serve. We look forward to seeing all of the residents of the community each and every year. | ![]() |
So how do we do it? How do we ensure that we visit EVERY
residence in North East? Just how do we manage to make this happen???
Every year in May, information is sent to every resident in North East with details of the week they are scheduled to be visited. The members are divided into areas of town, and will visit every house in their area, with Crescent Hose focusing on the Borough and Fuller Hose focusing on the Township. The first few nights, the person will visit the residence each and every night until contact with a resident is made. If by Friday, there still has been no contact, then the member will leave a door hanger on the door giving instructions on how to contact us. Information will be posted on this website as soon as dates for sales are released. Please check back! |

Frequently Asked Questions: 1) Will the member have identification? Yes, a member selling tickets is required to be in full "Class B" uniform, which consists of a uniform shirt, uniform pants, black shoes/boots, a blue military-style hat, and a badge. The member will arrive in the area on a fire apparatus or ambulance, and if any question to validity of uniform is needed, you are ENCOURAGED to call the fire station that the person claims to be with, either Crescent Hose (814) 725-1047 or Fuller Hose (814) 725-3301. 2) What if I'm going to be gone during the month of June? We encourage all residents to donate, it is our MAJOR source of money to use for training and equipment repair/upgrade. We encourage persons who won't be in the area to donate at the Cherry Festival in July 3) Can I only donate during the festival? Absolutely not!! Anyone interested in donating throughout the year may contact the fire station of their choice at the numbers listed above. 4) Why should I donate? While it is possible that you may not ever need or use the services provided by the North East Fire Department, just the peace of mind of knowing that some of the most skilled and well trained volunteers with some of the best equipment in the area are right in your backyard should be enough to encourage one to donate. The upkeep and maintenance of the equipment costs several thousand dollars alone! The donations go directly to training and equipment expenses to provide the best service to the residents of the North East area, who have enjoyed one of the best emergency response services for several years!
